Annual NYSUSBC Convention to be Held July 17

Brewster, NY – The New York State USBC will hold their Annual Convention this year on Saturday, July 17 from 11:00am – 3:00pm. The event will be held virtually this year as we hope to return to holding it as a live event next year.
The past year has been a challenging one, to say the least, but I think we all tried to make the most of it. NYS USBC was able to get back on track with two of our senior events in October and November, which saw moderate success. As the calendar changed to 2021 the events began to gain some momentum. The Masters and Queens had the usual turnout, while the Open Championship, Women’s Championship and Youth events had some decline in entries. With entries arriving daily, it looks as if people are ready for next year. The women’s senior singles event in coming up in Canandaigua in August, has been seeing a great response for entries. Hopefully those of who have held your association tournaments have also had good turnouts.
We are very excited to announce that New York has been awarded the 2022 US Women’s Open. This will be held at Kingpin’s Alley in South Glen Falls next August.
With that being said, it’s been a while since we have all met. While we all enjoy a few days at the convention and would love to see everyone, we have decided that this year’s convention will be virtual. Even though many people are vaccinated and the COVID numbers are declining daily, we felt that some might not yet feel safe attending a meeting with more than 100 people. We have found a great platform for the convention which will actually make you feel like you are sitting at the hotel with all your friends. You can even talk to the people at your table! The app is called Remo and the team at Remo has been working with us closely to make this a year to remember.
The convention will be held on Saturday, July 17 beginning at 11:00 am and will end at approximately 3:00 pm (time is subject to change). We are looking forward to seeing everyone and encourage all to attend. It will be business as usual with holding the meeting, voting on board members and an awards presentation to honor the Hall of Fame Inductees from 2020. A more detailed agenda will be sent to those attending shortly. We will also host practice voting sessions over the next few weeks to make sure things go smoothly when we are live at the event.
