Hashizumi Shines in Day 1 of NYS Senior Tournament

Utica, NY October 17, 2020 - The 42nd Annual NYS Open Senior Championships began in Utica on Saturday, October 17 at AMF Pin-O-Rama Lanes and star of the day was Glenn Hashizumi from Binghamton.
Hashizumi hit the ground running in the first squad rolling 255 – 252 – 266 for a 773 series. His doubles partner Randy Snyder from Apalachin shot a 597 to give them a lead in Class C with a combined score of 1444 with handicap.
Bowling in the singles, Hashizumi continued his hot hand with 217 – 216 – 269 for a 702 series, to lead Class C. Donald Baker from New Baltimore strung the first 10 strikes in game 2 of his singles event in route to 289. He finished the series with a 721 to grab the lead in Class D.
Other top performers were Joe “Flash” Gordon from Schenectady with a high game of 267 and 702 series. Raymond Cyr from New Hartford rolled a 241 and 253. And Baker also shot 254 in the doubles event.
There are more squad tomorrow, Sunday October 18 at 9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM as well as next weekend. Squad times for Saturday October 24 at 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM and Sunday October 25 at 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM. Please note the 9:00 AM squad on October 25 has been cancelled.
Walk-ons are accepted in each squad if space permits, each event is $30 per bowler with and optional 6-game combine for $10. You can bowl doubles only, singles only or both doubles and singles.
