NYS USBC Announces Scholarship Winners

Brewster, NY - The New York State USBC has a long tradition of awarding scholarships to Graduation Seniors. Seven deserving candidates are awarded money for college or trade school. Any bowler who is certified through New York State USBC and is a senior in high school can apply for these scholarships.  Below are this year's winners, all money will be held in the bowlers SMART Accounts with USBC.

NYS USBC 2021-22 Graduating Senior Scholars


$4,000 Pat Zonneville Memorial Award (NYS USBC) — Alexis Ingersoll, Oswego (Fulton USBC)

Alexis is a student at G. Ray Bodley HS and holds a 96.8 GPA and is ranked 5/227. Alexis has been bowing for 10 years and has a current average of 214, 300 high game (rolled at the age of 13) and a 745 High series. Her school activities include Student Senate, Hope Club, Class office, Positivity Project, Varsity Bowling, Varsity Tennis, and National Honor Society. Alexis is involved in the Community by Volney Volunteer Fire Corp. Red cross Blood Drives, Youth Representative on the Fulton USBC Board, Student Representative of Fulton Parks, and Recreation Committee. Alexis has also received numerous Award & Honors on and off the lanes.

Alexis will be attending & Bowling for Maryland Eastern Shore and will study Biology.

$3,000 (NYS USBC) — Megan Kapsiak, Lancaster (Greater Buffalo USBC)

Megan is a student at Lancaster High School and holds a 4.0 GPA and is ranked 30/426. Megan has been bowling for 5 years and has a current average of 179, high game of 275 and high series of 654. Her High School activities consist of Lancaster Healthcare Academy, 4 Years Varsity Bowling, and National Honor Society. Megan volunteers at LVAC Volunteer Ambulance by having flood pressure clinics and riding on calls w/paramedics, she also delivers Holy Communion to parishioners who are home bound. Megan has been Awarded many Awards & Honors on and off the lanes.

Megan will be attending D'Youville College and will have a study in the medical field.

$2,000 (NYS USBC) — Angelia Lubrano, Brooklyn (Staten Island USBC)

Angelia attends Saint Savior High School and holds an 88 GPA. She has been bowling for 4 years and holds a 193 Average, a high game of 290 and a high series of 693. Angelia's School activities include, Student Government, Homeroom VP, Cultural Harmony Rep, Yearbook Committee, Shalom Club member, and Science Research Club member. Her Community Activities are, Bay Ridge Cares, she has helped collect & hand out clothing & toys for victims of Hurricane Sandy and the Domestic Violence Center, Girl Scouts, Relay for Life, Maimonides Pediatric Cancer Center, Assemble School Backpacks, Grandma's Love, the Healing Center, Good Counsel, and member of the Bravo Volunteer Ambulance Youth Squad. Angelia has also received many honors on and off the Lanes.

Angelia will attend and Bowl for St Francis (Brooklyn) and will have a course of study in Physical Therapy

$1,000 (NYS USBC Youth Leaders) — Ethan Auspelmyer, Fultonville (Schenectady USBC)

Ethan attends Fonda-Fultonville High School and holds a 3.6 GPA and is ranked 46/100. Ethan has been bowling for 12 years and holds a 210 Average, 300 High Game and a 787 High Series. He is involvement with School activities include Co-Captain Varsity Bowling, National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Trumpet in the Concert Band, and a member of the Chorus. He volunteers his time at the Mason lodge, American Cancer Society, AM Juniors Youth League, Ethan has also Designed the Yearbook Cover, and posters for the Middle School Fund raiser event. He has many Bowling Honors and awards.

Ethan will hopefully attend Syracuse University and study Finance

$1,000 (NYS USBC Youth Leaders) — Kayla Richardson, Webster (Rochester USBC)

Kayla attends Webster Schroeder High School and 87.97 GPA. Kayla has been bowling for 5 years and has a 173 Average, High Game of 256 and a 683 High Series. Her school involvement includes National high Honor Roll with distinction, Team Captain of the Varsity Bowling, JV Tennis, Varsity Tennis, SAAC Member, and Link Crew. Kayla volunteers her time as a Young Life member, Vacation Bible School, Greece Ridge Lions Club, and helped to support Find a Grave. Kayla has received multiple High Honor Awards.

Kayla will attend Daemen College and study Elementary Education.

$1,000 (NYS USBC) — Ryan Rourke, Staten Island (Staten Island USBC)

Ryan attends St. Joseph by the Sea High School and holds a 3.3 GPA. Ryan has been bowling for 2 years and has a 165 Average, High Game of 202 and a 577 High Series. His school activities include, Honor Roll, Varsity Archery Team, Pre- Veterinarian Studies, Robotics Club, and the Bowling Team. He volunteers his time to help Coach Young Children on the St Clare Swim Team.

Ryan will attend Coastal Carolina University with a Course of Study in biology.

$1,000 (NYS USBC) — Braydon O'Conner, Kingston (Kingston NY USBC)

Braydon attends Rondout Valley High and holds a 3.54 GPA and is ranked 51/183. Braydon has been bowling for 7 years and has a 195 Average, 279 High Game and a High Series of 791. His school activities include Merit Honor Roll, and Skills USA Member/Vice President. His community involvement includes Rondout Valley Food Pantry and a NYS Youth Leader.

Braydon has applied to SUNY Polytechnic with a course of study in Computer Science.
