Women's Senior Singles Tournament is Cancelled
Date Posted: May 28th, 2020
Due to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York State USBC board of directors has decided to cancel the 2020 NYS Women's Senior Singles Championships that were scheduled to take place in August at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua.
The board's feeling is that cancelling the tournament is in the best interests of our bowlers as well as bowling center personnel and tournament workers. In most regions of the state, the reopening process is in the first of four phases, and bowling centers aren't slated to reopen until next month if all goes well.
The board also agreed to award the 2021 tournament to Roseland Bowl, with Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego and Kingpin's Alley Family Fun Center in South Glens Falls pushed back a year to 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Refund checks are being mailed this week to bowlers who had paid their entry fees.
